Facial skin, in most cases, reflects one’s age, health and hygiene. Wrinkles, dark spots and patches or dark circles are some evident symptoms of old age. Particularly, the regions of skin around the eyes are quite subtle, sensitive, soft and frail. Due to reasons like environmental factors like pollutants and sun rays, allergies, lack of sleep and intense work, eyes get puffed as they get irritated, stressed, fatigued or vexed. In the modern world, people’s life has become too busy that people are stressed up very often because of travel and work and thus become conspicuous victims of puffed eye condition.

Healthy eyes are identified by healthy skin around the eye, vibrant, sparkling and fresh look and seldom rashes or puffed up appearance. Puffy eyes can be easily treated using naturally available materials like plant and animal products despite the fact that lot of commercial creams and hydrating lotions are available. The most economic and quick treatment for puffy eyes caused by infection or fatigue is by regularly splashing fresh chilled water on the eyes and bathe the eyes by moving the eyeballs around which actually hydrates and cleanses the skin and the eye itself. Using sliced cucumber, chilled tea-bags, tulsi juice and potato slices directly on closed eye lids for a while will naturally cool, soothe and comfort the eye to a great extent thereby reducing puffed eye appearance.
Blending slices of potato and cucumber, extracting the juice and then mixing it with little ice cold water and if possible adding juice extract of tulsi or holy will basil leaves to it, will yield a good hydrating paste which can be directly applied on the eyelids and around the eyes for proven results of extensive relief to puffy eyes. Using metal round spoons kept in the freezer for sometime or ice cubes on puffy eyes is a quick way to get rid of puffy eyes. The ice cubes made from the hydrating paste also provide a naturalizing relief to puffy eyes. Using an additional soft pillow which is made of a material not allergic to the skin will be quite beneficial for that. Gently pressing the palm against and around the puffed eyes reduce the puffiness caused by accumulation of fluids around the eye.
Managing physical and mental stress, avoiding use of toxic creams and strong moisturizers, eliminating alcohol and excessive salt consumption, relaxing for a while when working on a computer continuously, sleeping for sufficient time, removal of contact lens before sleep, regular rinsing of eyes and consulting a doctor regularly to get allergy treatments are preventive measures to be taken. Puffy eyes due to excessive crying can be reduced by sufficient sleep and massaging eyes with cold water. Medical conditions like sinus and blepharitis are to be treated immediately by a physician. Consumption of lots of water, fruit juices and vitamin-A containing food everyday will prevent and cure puffy eyes to a great extent. It is advisable to have a nutritious balanced diet and sleep of 8 hours everyday.
